OREGON

Rusten got accepted into the joint business/law program at the University of Oregon. We are planning on moving there in August. He also got accepted into the MBA program at the University of Washington. They paid for us to go up there for a welcome week. Although Rusten isn't going to attend the University of Washington, we decided to take advantage of their generous offer and take the kids for a road trip. We drove up through Seattle then down through Eugene, Oregon where we are going to be living.

We left during naptime so the kids were asleep in no time. Too bad they didn't sleep the whole time we were in the car. That would have been nice!

We ate dinner at a little Mexican restaurant in Boise where we stopped for the first night. Utah must be a little bit closer to Mexico than Idaho. That food was NASTY!

Joel didn't seem to mind.

The next day we had this "genius" idea to give the kids peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the car. What the heck were we thinking?

We stopped at Snoqualmie Falls and let the kids stretch their legs.

The waterfall is HUGE. It was beautiful. Of course Joel kept saying "bubbles!" (that's what he says whenever he sees water)



This was one of those rare moments where the kids decided that they liked each other.

Joel crawled up and down the paths and pretended he was a puppy. He stopped at the crack in the sidewalk though and said "bite." That means he was afraid of something. Who knows what?

Darion was pretending to be a monkey. He is quite the climber.

This is at the children's museum in Seattle. Darion really was the "catch of the day." The museum was closed when we got there, but we stopped in front for the photo op.

We rode the monorail back and forth. The kids loved riding the train.

We stopped at Pike's Market. That was nothing but awesome! The kids loved looking at all of the fish.

We rode up to the top of the Space Needle. The kids thought it was cool to look through the telescopes. Darion said he was a pirate.

These balls are in front of the Space Needle. Rusten asked Darion what is favorite part of the trip was and he said "It was riding the balls." It took us a while to figure out what he was talking about.

After a long day, the kids needed a bath in the hotel. It was nice not to have to worry about cleaning the floor after.

We had a lot of fun on our trip, but it was really nice to come home. We're all excited for the big move. It doesn't seem quite so scary not that we've had a look around Eugene. It's a beautiful city that's very green. We love it.
